About PGM:Penuel Gospel Ministries, PGM, was started in 1953. The word “Penuel” means “vision of God” (Genesis 32:30), and we believe it is through His vision that this work was begun. An indigenous ministry operating on faith, PGM is taking the Gospel to places that had not been previously reached; remote hill areas as well as interior jungle areas. It is the fastest growing ministry in Andhra Pradesh, India. The state of Andhra Pradesh has 27,915 cities, towns and villages, with a total population of 10 million. 45% of the population lives in dark forested areas which are difficult to reach. There are 36 tribal groups in the province, each with their own language in addition to speaking Telugu. Idolatry, sorcery, and terrorism are common. The government largely ignores them because of their illiteracy (65% of the population is illiterate). Because of this, many missionaries, pastors, and evangelists have avoided these areas. But we at PGM are rising to the challenge of reaching these remote villages with the Gospel. This ministry is dedicated to evangelization in rural and slum areas through distribution of tracts, personal evangelism in open-air campaigns, and charitable social services for poor and needy people. Through this, we show Jesus Christ’s love to others. We teach Biblical fundamentals without denominational doctrine. Many of our pastors, who are both male and female, and evangelists are working on a volunteer basis, sacrificing their time and effort to serve the Lord without any financial compensation, going without needed items for themselves and their families. PGM now has 37 pastors and evangelists, and 6 women pastors working in Andhra and Madya Pradesh states, and we are honored to have so many dedicated people serving with us.
At present, this work is supported by the prayer and free will offerings of God’s people in India. There is no regular guaranteed support from anywhere domestically or abroad, and we are seeking regular support to continue the ministry. Our country is in great need of salvation. We gladly invite those who have a burden for India and its salvation to come encourage and work beside PGM to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. |
